How we count.

What goes on the tally

Confirmed sold value only. A sale counts once the item has actually sold and the price is known — either because it sold through Cluttr, or because someone told us what they sold it for and we confirmed the entry. Estimates, asking prices and listed prices never appear on any figure on this site.

Sales through Cluttr

Added automatically when the reseller marks the item sold and records the price. The figure used is the actual sale price, before any split — the full value cleared out of the city, not anyone's cut of it.

Sales you did yourself

Added when you fill in the "add what I sold myself" form. Every entry is reviewed by a person before it counts. Attaching a screenshot means we can confirm it faster; it is not required, and we do not reject an entry just because there is no screenshot.

What we reject

Entries that are obviously not a real sale, duplicates of a sale already counted, and anything sold outside the campaign dates or outside Christchurch. If we reject something you entered, the reason is recorded against it.

The campaign window

Items sold between 1 Sept 2026 and 30 Nov 2026. A sale outside those dates does not count, even if the item was listed during the campaign.

Workplace totals

The sum of confirmed sold value on entries tagged to that workplace. The same rules apply — nothing counts until it is confirmed. We publish the workplace name and total only, never who cleared what.

The charity figure

Money we have actually received and passed on, or are holding to pass on. A pledge someone has made but not yet paid is not counted in the figure on the home page. Nothing is charged to anyone through this site.

Corrections

If we find a figure is wrong, we correct it, and the tally can go down as well as up. Where a correction is applied by hand rather than by removing entries, it replaces the calculated total rather than being added to it.
